Mr. Zhang Jianzong is a farmer from Gaoyaogou village, Yuzhong County in Gansu. Although mentally handicapped, his crippled wife and two young sons depend on him for support. They were unable to fetch water from afar due to the position of difficulty. Now with the help of CCF and the Rain Water Collection Project, the grateful family has a new concrete water storage in their courtyard. Zhang Junbao, the elder son of Zhang Jianzong, wrote to the relatives far away from their village tearfully and would like share the heart-stirring news with them.

In years of drought, children here can only wash their faces by a mouthful of water before they go to school. Mothers here can only cook with a bowl of muddy water. Severe drought often encroaches on the mountain areas in the west of China. There is no underground water that can be used. Neither can the water needed for irrigation be ensured, nor that for daily life. "Building water pools and collecting rain water" is a practical and effective way to ease the problem. The goal of the "Rainwater Collection" project is to help the residents in the drought-stricken areas to build rainwater collection facilities and to solve their problem of water shortage in daily life.

As little as RMB 800 will build a water storage facility to help a needy family today.
